A survey was conducted to determine the type of introductory physics courses that is being offered in college physics departments and whether special courses are offered for those students who have completed high-school physics. Analysis of the questionnaires indicates that very few colleges or universities offer special consideration to these students. Representative comments made by the respondents to the survey are given, and some of the problems which are raised are discussed. Suggestions are made for future study needed to arrive at possible solutions to these problems.
